Location and First Impressions

Il Tornabuoni is ideally situated close to the Florence train station, a mere 10-15 minute walk away, making it incredibly convenient for travelers arriving by train. Its prime location is unbeatable, nestled among designer shops and within walking distance to most of the city's iconic attractions, including the Uffizi Gallery, which is only about a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

Upon arrival, the warmth and helpfulness of the doorman set the tone for our stay, a theme that continued with every interaction with the hotel staff. The dedication of the team was evident, as they were always available to assist with anything we needed, making us feel welcomed and valued.

Our room, the Queen Suite, was a spacious haven of comfort. The room featured two queen beds and boasted a separate alcove with a couch and TV, providing ample space for relaxation and privacy. One of the highlights of our stay was the hotel's unique way of celebrating New Year's Eve. Although we opted out of the special NYE dinner due to dietary considerations for our companion, the hotel manager graciously invited us to the second part of the celebration. This included access to the butterfly terrace rooftop for a breathtaking view of the fireworks as we rang in the New Year, a truly magical experience that added a special touch to our holiday.

Drawbacks

While the hotel offers numerous positives, there are a couple of drawbacks worth mentioning. Due to its location in the bustling heart of Florence, surrounded by other buildings, the hotel lacks natural light and expansive views. The building's age means there is no central ceiling light, requiring reliance on lamps and wall lights, which may not suffice for guests preferring brighter accommodations. Additionally, the elevators are quite small, which, although standard for Europe, might be a surprise for some international visitors. However, the efficiency of the elevator service, never having to wait more than 30 seconds, somewhat mitigates this inconvenience.

Despite the minor drawbacks, the hotel's ambiance is enhanced by festive decorations and spontaneous cultural experiences, such as an opera singer performing outside the hotel on several occasions.
