Corinthia Lisbon Review
Lisbon is known for its historic charm and bustling cobblestone streets, but after a busy few weeks of exploring, we were looking for a bit of a sanctuary. We found exactly that at the Corinthia Lisbon. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by an expansive, impeccably clean lobby that immediately sets a sophisticated tone for your stay. We stayed for five nights, and it turned out to be the perfect home base for our family before we continued our journey to Porto.
Check in
After a long day of travel, there is nothing better than a quick check-in. We arrived well past the 3:00 PM check-in time, and our room was ready for us immediately. The process was seamless, and our bags were delivered to our suite within 10 minutes of us walking through the door.
A small note on security: You do need your room key card to access the elevators to your floor. Our cards were a little wonky and stopped working for a couple of nights, but the front desk was incredibly quick to fix them and provide new ones the moment we asked.
The Room
We checked into a Deluxe Junior Suite, which was incredibly spacious—a must when traveling with an active eight-year-old! The room featured massive windows that flooded the space with natural light and offered sweeping views of the Lisbon city.
Eli immediately getting acquainted with the room
One of my favorite luxury touches was the Santa Maria Novella bath products. I’ve always loved this brand, and having their high-end amenities in our large, modern bathroom with a bath tub and a separate shower made every morning feel like a spa day.
The housekeeping team was top-notch. Our room was serviced twice daily, and on the second night, they surprised us by setting up an extra bed for Elijah during turn-down service without us even asking. It’s those intuitive details that really set a five-star hotel apart.
The Sky Lounge Experience
Because of our room category, we had access to the Sky Lounge on the 24th floor, and it was a highlight of the stay. The views of the city from up there are quite breathtaking; the perfect spot to get your bearings and see Lisbon from above.
The lounge is quiet and relaxing, making it a great spot to grab a drink or a quick snack. The staff there are lovely and kind, always making sure we had everything we needed.
A buffet breakfast is also served every morning until 11AM, featuring made to order eggs that you can order off of the menu.
While we enjoyed the quiet breakfast at the lounge, we tried it once and found the selection a bit smaller than the main restaurant, so we preferred heading downstairs for our morning meal!
The Spa & Wellness
If you follow my travels, you know I can’t pass up a good spa.
I spent an hour in the hydrotherapy circuit, and I highly recommend it. Since it was a weekday, I practically had the place to myself! The circuit features three types of showers, a steam room, a dry sauna, and an infrared sauna.
There was also a cold foot bath path where you walk on stones. I only made it halfway but it was refreshing while it lasted.
The main attraction is the large hydrotherapy pool in the middle with various jets.
It took me a few minutes to realize you have to press the buttons to activate them, but once I did, it was pure bliss.
For the Kids: There is an indoor heated pool inside the spa area that is kid-friendly. Eli loved heading there for a swim during our downtime while I relaxed at the spa.
Just a heads-up: they provide towels at the pool, but you can’t take them back to the room, so remember to wear your robes down!
Location & Service
I’ll admit, we were initially worried about not being right in the heart of the city center. However, it was actually a relief to escape the hustle and bustle at the end of the day. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to the city center which was very comfortable. When we didn't use the shuttle, getting an Uber was incredibly easy and affordable.
The staff truly made us feel at home. They greeted us with genuine smiles every morning, and some even became "friends" with Eli, keeping him entertained while we waited in the lobby for our rides.
Final Thoughts
While Lisbon is a city that invites you to be constantly on the move, the Corinthia Lisbon taught us the value of having a serene place to return to. It’s rare to find a hotel that balances high-end luxury for adults with such a genuine, welcoming atmosphere for children.
Between the breathtaking views from the 24th floor, the soothing sounds of live music at breakfast, and the kindness shown to Elijah by the staff, our five nights here felt less like a hotel stay and more like being hosted by friends. If you’re looking for a peaceful, polished, and family-oriented sanctuary in the heart of Portugal, this is it.
We left for Porto feeling completely refreshed, recharged, and, thanks to a generous 4:00 PM late check-out, entirely stress-free. Lisbon, you were a dream, and the Corinthia was the perfect place to sleep through it.
